I chose anonymity because it enables me to not worry about criticizing my school, my professors, etc. I also don&#039;t need to worry about my online identity which I actually guard quite religiously. (Though, I&#039;ll admit, some days I&#039;d prefer to be &quot;out of the closet,&quot; in the blogging sense of the word.)

However, anonymity has definite shortcomings. There&#039;s something to be said for transparency and accessibility as values of the Web. You can&#039;t get those with anonymity. Plus, if you&#039;re writing good stuff you may want people to give you credit for it.
