Nutty dogs, an amazing job, hilarious friends, and dates that could make the blue sky blush.

Can someone cue the Mary Tyler Moore theme for me? Things are just too awesome right now. I won’t say too much more lest I jinx things.

The Gay 90′s was packed last night because everyone had Monday off.

We knew it was going to be an amazing night when “Make it Rain” came on just as we entered the hiphop room. Upstairs was crowded as well, but we couldn’t stay in the “not-so-retro” room too long because the air conditioning wasn’t on.

gay 90s

It was an epic night and we had some of the best people watching ever. There was even a full-out vogue off in the dance annex to “Whip my hair.” Work!

Earlier in the evening I was with the softball gays at The Eagle. That bar was packed as well and there was a full spread on in pool table room including a pig.

It reminded me too much of silence of the lambs. It rubs the lotion on its skin!

It was also sort of odd to see everyone grubbing on baked beans at the bar, but the food did look amazing. I’ve toyed with the idea of joining a gay softball team, but I think I’d prefer rugby. I wonder if they get baked bean night at The Eagle as well…

Besides the Memorial Day Weekend festivities, I spent a lot of time outdoors this week biking to the burbs and running around the Uptown lakes. There were long days at the office, drag shows, and a lot of lounging about at the house with the dogs.

No dates this week however. I have a lot of toast and extras in my life. A few of the more interesting prospects showed some neon-red flags this week, so I ran like I just saw a rabid honey badger. Maybe things will improve this week.

This next week should be quieter socially. A lot of my coworkers are on vacation this week so we are going to be swamped. I also started my new aggressive workout regimen today. The plan is to have a complete Jersey Shore/Gorilla juicehead look by the end of the year. It should be fabulous, right?

Best Week Ever 10 & 11: The Effort

What a busy two weeks. Harley and I are both exhausted. Him more so:

It’s that dirty, muddy time of the year when the temperature struggles to consistently stay above freezing.

But that means warmth, longer dog walks, and re-exploring the city.

loring park

Oh, and potholes.

Spring also marks high gas prices and my lackluster return to the dating scene because Halvers and I broke up. The relationship ended on good terms – which is that unsatisfying PR line that makes your eyes roll when you hear it from a celebrity couple,…but what if it’s true? Sorry. Next time there will be dish breaking and alarm ringing. I swear.

This is also my spring of renewed effort. For a while I’ve glared at my apartment and blamed it for being old, but then I decided to spruce things up a bit. I tackled everything with Lysol and serious scrubbing, bought a new vacuum made for dog owners, a shower caddy, and gasp! Things look amazing. Clean all things!

And of course that translated to a renewed interest in healthy eating, working out, school work, und, und, und,  and all I needed was the temperature to stay above freezing. Who knew?
