Best Week Ever 2: The Brat

This sums up my week:

Rosedale Mall Bear

Accepting the job offer forced me to reevaluate my priorities.

The past year consisted of employment preparationclerkships, volunteer positions, internships, the clinic, informational meetings, etc. I kept a packed and varied schedule because I was unsure of what activity would lead to a job. The busyness was exciting because I learned a lot, but I am unsure of which activities are worth keeping now that I have a job.

Resigning from the public defender’s office was easy because the clerkship conflicts with my new work hours. But then there are other things like the tax nonprofit:

VITA tax prep

I have to pass two more VITA tests to volunteer at the nonprofit. The VITA  tests help refresh what I learned in my tax law classes and make my work in the tax clinic much easier because I can read returns now.

Although there are benefits to the tests, I felt ridiculous after working on the first two VITA tests for hours because I am not likely to practice tax law, or even take the bar.

Sure, I only need to put a few more hours in to provide a valuable service to clients/taxpayers, but I think I’m tired.

Then again, a once-a-week volunteer commitment isn’t a particularly crazy post-graduation activity. Hmmf. I suspect I’m just being a brat about this.
