Thanks!

Cornell actually solicited me too! I think it's a plot...

You can always get a bit of a bigger house and then look for a roommate, or, get a short-term apartment and shop around. And yeah, LSD usually has very few UMN people...our class isn't very tech-savvy.

Hey, J., great post. Despite still having some aps outstanding, I think I'm so ready just to get it all over with and commit. I thought I was done, then had that late competitor for UofM's affection, but now I think I'm just about ready to commit once again.

It's funny how I don't worry about finding a place - probably because there are so many great houses in our price range out in our desired neighborhoods. Trying to find anything in Ithaca scared the crap out of me. I'm sure it helps we're arriving way early. Good to hear about financial aid too.

I wish more future 1Ls would show up on LSD and ask questions - I'm getting tired of holding down the fort for us 0L newbies on my own.

Keep up the great advice. I honestly think your blawg had a significant role in making me feel comfortable that UofM was the right choice - particularly in light of a lot of great options thrown my way.

Actually someone offered to do that for me before I moved here (they offered to take pictures of the neighborhoods)... and I thought that was a bit strange.

But then again, if someone wanted me to do that now, I would probably do it...so I guess it's not so weird after all!

Ugh, the housing thing is SO TRUE! I was in France when I had to find a place to live, and it about drove me crazy. And I actually ended up *almost* moving in with a 2L who was advertising their condo on Top Law School (I ended up getting an apt on campus at the last minute instead).

I didn't do the forums that asked about numbers, etc., but I met a TON of my incoming classmates on the TLS page and {some of us} are now BFFs...We bonded in the weeks before school started, hiked, made COSTCO and IKEA runs together - it was the things Admissions videos are made of :)

I'm adding a piece of advice to yours (because lord knows that MY blog isn't going to help any 0Ls, lol) - ask, and ye shall receive. Example: an incoming student from out of state was asking what neighborhoods are like, where to live, etc. She emailed me and I drove over to her prospective digs last weekend to check them out in the day/night. To the 0Ls - most of us, the normal ones, really do want to help you! We remember what it's like...

Great post Jansen!
