Still playing tourist

I have been in Minneapolis for two years now, but I still pull out my blackberry and snap pictures like a tourist.

Below are some random shots of the University of Minnesota and Dinkytown from this week. The indoor pictures are of the Walter Library, where I am hiding at the moment because it is too hot to study outside.

My first year in Minnesota

I’ve officially been in Minnesota for a year. There are already extensive summaries of fall semester and spring semester, so I’ve decided to pick a picture/memory to represent each month.

Here it goes:

August: Exploring Twin Cities

September: school starts, law students riverdance.

October: Let’s talk about the weave

November: Outlining…oh, and Fedde Le Grand/Moon Goons!

December: Smile! It’s finals!

Winter Break (Dec): Christmas in Miami!

Winter Break (Jan): Oh wait, is this that winter thing they told me about?

January: Bemidji!

February: Ice, and slush! (And Snowmageddon)

March: Oh my god, my brief is done! And the law school chairs are inadequate…

April: New apartment, new dog, and then I get shot…

May: Finals, petitioning, summer school and drool…

June: walk the dog, go to summer school, walk the dog, work, walk the dog, bed… repeat. Oh, and sometimes there are random shootings…

July: Yesina gets arrested…again and again.

There’s an interesting series of posts over at Kootoyoo¹ called “My Creative Space.” Kristy takes a picture of her creative space every Thursday.

I couldn’t commit to Thursdays, nor creativity…but I did take a few snaps of my study spaces over the past week.

This disaster is in the “computer lab” area of the law library:

The “computer lab” is really a series of study carrels. I think there were computers there at one point, before they forced everyone to buy overpriced laptops. And yes, that’s 100% Cacao. Delicious.

This picture is from Purple Onion Café in Dinkytown. Stella and I were studying Civil Procedure…sort of. Here’s a video.

This is at the Sullivan Café area in the law school. The man who works there randomly belts out opera.

This is in my room. And yes, that’s the infamous pickle jar.

I need to get better about throwing out my trash as I create it. I usually wait until I’m ready to leave, which means passersby get to see a nasty heap of trash by my books. Classy!
